Journalism covering cannabis has moved well beyond close-up photos of strains in magazine centerfolds. A community that is millions strong is engaging with weed news on plenty of mainstream and niche publishers on every social platform, in every medium. We’ll talk about how the Denver Post and NowThis have grown the pot beat, with coverage touching on the polarizing topics of criminal justice, the economy, the future of medicine and pop culture. Growing the beat has created job opportunities, huge audience engagement and — occasionally — even revenue streams.
