ONA Weekly #499: Register For The AI Training Series

By on February 14, 2024

Save the dates: The 2024 Online News Association Conference (ONA24) is happening Sept. 18-21 in Atlanta.

Register for the AI training series

Get ready: Our new training series on AI for journalism kicks off Feb. 28. We are excited to collaborate with Mike Reilley, Founder of JournalistsToolbox.ai and Senior Lecturer at the University of Illinois-Chicago, to deliver a robust lineup of opportunities to build practical skills. We’ll explore ways to save time and work more efficiently using tools such as Google Bard, MidJourney and Claude, and discuss specific applications for elections reporting, audience engagement and more.

This training is for you if you’ve been curious and need a supportive nudge to get started with incorporating AI tools in your journalism and newsroom work. It’s also a great opportunity if you’ve tried just a few things on your own and want to get a fuller understanding of the possibilities.

Registration is included as an ONA member benefit and $25 for non-members. Register now or learn more about joining ONA.

ONA’s AI in Journalism Initiative is just getting started. To explore partnership opportunities, contact Hanaa Rifaey, Head of Strategic Partnerships, at hanaa@journalists.org.

Join the ONA24 Volunteer Program Committee

Each year a volunteer group of journalists, news leaders and other media professionals review session pitch submissions and help ONA staff design programming for ONA’s annual conference. Volunteers commit approximately 5-10 hours between mid-March to late May.

If you’re interested in joining the Program Committee for ONA24, we are excited to hear from you! Learn more about the committee’s role and apply by Friday, February 23, 11:59 p.m. EST.
