Let’s talk about mentorship

Mentorship can be a game-changer for your career journey. In the latest edition of Office Hours, ONA’s Director of Awards and Community Resources, Hollie Schultz, shared her perspective on the importance of mentorship, the benefits of having multiple mentors and the value of paying it forward. Read more in Office Hours and add your own thoughts about making the most of mentorship opportunities.

So you want to be a mentor

Digital Women Leaders, now powered by ONA, provides access to one-on-one mentoring calls with industry leaders who generously share their expertise to support others in journalism in leveling up their work and careers. Current mentors include:

  • Niketa Patel, Senior Director of Leadership Programs at Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, available to discuss AI and journalism, parenting as a news worker and navigating difficult conversations
  • ONA’s LaSharah S. Bunting, who can support on moving into executive leadership, managing change and crafting an exit strategy.

We are looking to add more mentors to our roster. If you are a woman or non-binary person working in media with mentorship experience, complete the mentor interest form to tell us about yourself and how you would like to contribute.
