ONA Weekly #416: Thank You, Amy Eisman

By on June 29, 2022

Thank you, Amy Eisman

Today we are celebrating Amy Eisman, the Founding Chair of the MJ Bear Fellowship and a longtime friend of ONA, as she transitions from this leadership role.

The MJ Bear Fellowship was established in 2011 to honor and support stand-out digital journalists under 30. As the fellowship chair, Amy has played an important role in shaping how ONA supports emerging talent and continuing the legacy of her friend and former American University colleague MJ Bear. While she is stepping away from the chairperson role, Amy will continue to participate in the selection committee.

Amy has nominated 2011 MJ Bear fellow Laura Amico as the next fellowship chair. Laura is a reporter, editor and media entrepreneur with a passion for engaging digital audiences. When Laura was selected as an MJ Bear Fellow, she was the Founder and Editor of Homicide Watch D.C., which earned industry-wide acclaim for its comprehensive coverage of the District. Laura is currently Senior Editor at Harvard Business Review.

Note: Applications for the 2022 MJ Bear Fellowship are due on July 14. Selected fellows will kick off the one-year program with an expenses-paid trip to ONA22 in Los Angeles, where they will participate in a panel discussion to showcase their work and expertise to the journalism community.

Anti-hackathon

The #DigitalSafetySnacks series is back this week with two new episodes and a hands-on workshop. We know you already have many passwords and security questions floating around out there. How do you keep track of them all? How do you create new ones without either forgetting or botching the process? And what are the best practices for two-factor authentication?
