ONA Weekly #414: DeDox Yourself

By on June 15, 2022

DeDox yourself

In the first two episodes of our Digital Safety Snacks series, PEN America’s Jeje Mohamed and Viktorya Vilk show how to find what information is available about you online — before someone else does.

Watch now:

  • DeDoxing Yourself, Part I: Google “dorking,” reverse image search and other ways to find what private info about you is circulating online.
  • DeDoxing Yourself, Part II: A primer on the data brokers selling your info for pennies and what to do about them.

Plus, join us for an interactive, 30-minute workshop on Thursday, June 16, 12 p.m. EDT to work through the content of Episodes 1 and 2. Register now and bring your questions.

19 mentors joining the ONA22 Student Newsroom

We are thrilled to introduce the volunteer mentors selected to provide expert guidance to the ONA22 Student Newsroom and Innovation Lab. The group includes longtime mentors and former newsroom participants, as well as local news reporters, podcast producers, researchers and digital strategists.

Reminder for students: Applications to join the newsroom are due Thursday, June 23. The application asks for insight into your approach to problem-solving, a topic idea you’d want the newsroom to cover and a letter of recommendation. Start your application today!
