U.S. Election Safety Summer
The 2024 U.S. general election comes at a critical time for press freedom in the United States. In response to intensifying hostilities, abuse and violence towards journalists, ONA is supporting PEN America, the Committee to Protect Journalists and the International Women’s Media Foundation with the launch of U.S. Election Safety Summer. This free webinar series offers concrete strategies and resources for journalists to protect themselves and one another. Over six sessions, the series will provide safety guidance on risk assessment, physical safety, digital safety and online abuse defense, legal rights and psychological well-being.
The first session is on Tuesday, June 4. Register now to learn with Nadine Hoffman, IWMF Deputy Executive Director; Jeje Mohamed, IWMF Senior Manager for Digital Safety and Free Expression; and Jen Byers, visual and investigative journalist specializing in coverage on U.S. domestic conflict, activism, LGBTQ+ issues, climate, and state repression and dissent.
