The 2023 Online Journalism Awards logo.We’re eager to celebrate the winners and finalists of the 2023 Online Journalism Awards (#OJA23)! Learn how to watch the two-part celebrations.

First, join us for a virtual celebration for the 2023 Online Journalism Awards, covering 17 of the 23 categories.

Your hosts will be Imaeyen Ibanga, Presenter, Documentarian, & Senior Producer at AJ+, and LaSharah Bunting, CEO and Executive Director at ONA. Cheer on and support those nominated as finalists, and congratulate the winners on their amazing work!

Then, winners in the remaining six OJA categories will be announced at the Online Journalism Awards Ceremony and Banquet taking place Saturday, Aug. 26, in Philadelphia with host Gene Demby from NPR. Buy tickets to attend in person (as a standalone ticket or added on to ONA23: Philadelphia registration) or livestream the event that evening.

OJA finalists: Immersive Storytelling

Speaking of OJAs finalists, this week we’re highlighting the finalists in the newly expanded category Excellence in Immersive and Emerging Technology Storytelling. This award honors storytelling that can include the use of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, AI chatbots, augmented reality, mixed reality, 360 video or other emerging media.

Reminder: Board voting eligibility deadline

Become an ONA member by Aug. 10 so that you’ll be eligible to cast a ballot in our 2024-25 Board of Directors election. We have nine new candidates and six incumbents running for six seats – make sure your voice is heard!

Voting will begin for members on Aug. 14, when we will email your unique election passcodes (which can also be found in the ONA member portal). Then, use an electronic ballot to vote through Sept. 7.
