A look at the Philadelphia Reentry Reporting Collaborative

At a recent meetup, ONA Philadelphia got a behind-the-scenes look at the Philadelphia Reentry Reporting Collaborative, which covers prisoner reentry. “The collaborative is really groundbreaking in that it brings together some 15 diverse media organizations in the same city to explore solutions to some of the thorniest issues of reentry,” says Sabrina Vourvoulias of NBC10-Telemundo 82. Learn more about how the collaborative is doing important reporting on a challenging local issue in this in-depth writeup by Jim MacMillan of Temple University School of Media and Communication.

Connecting local journalism leaders

On April 1, we’re bringing together journalists from around the country to New Orleans to share ideas about how to strengthen local journalism. From discussing how to build a digital journalism community, to innovating in legacy newsrooms, to creating partnerships and collaborations that actually work, the event is designed to give ONA Local leaders the tools they need to support local journalism. If you’re in New Orleans, meet the leaders at The Avenue Pub  on March 31. Learn how you can get involved with ONA Local by joining a group near you or by creating a new group for your journalism community.
