AI in the classroom

Mike Reilley, UIC Senior Lecturer and JournalistsToolbox.ai Founder, and Matt Waite, Professor of Practice at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will guide us through three topics:

  • How to establish an AI policy for your class syllabus and/or student newsroom
  • How to implement AI tools into existing classes
  • How to create a standalone course focused on AI in journalism

The training is open to all. Tickets are $25 or free for ONA members.

Coming soon: RSVP for select ONA24 sessions

We’re going for gold on the ONA24 schedule with an exciting mix of ways to learn and connect—topic-based meetups, interactive learning sessions, plenaries discussing big ideas and more.

Heads-up: People already registered for the conference will start receiving invitations` to RSVP for deep-dive workshop sessions the week of July 29. These opportunities include, but aren’t limited to, the AI Executive Summit, First-Time Manager’s Training and more. Make sure to add registration@journalists.org and newsletter@journalists.org to your contacts so you don’t miss the emails.

If you register for ONA24 later, you can still add RSVP-only workshops to your ONA24 pass where spots are available, but they tend to fill up quickly. We highly recommend you register for the conference now if you already know you’ll be joining us in Atlanta.

Resources for journalists’ safety and mental health

Rosem Morton, a registered nurse, safety consultant and documentary photographer, will lead the final session on Tuesday, July 30, 12 p.m. EDT, and cover how journalists can protect their mental health in light of increasing attacks against the media.
