ONA Weekly #453: Expanding The ONA Slack Community

By on March 22, 2023

Slack users: Join our community, help us make it better

We’re exploring expanding the use of the ONA Slack community. ONA community members have asked for a space to connect with each other between events, and we hope that growing the use of this community of nearly 2,000 members would help. Members could use the platform to talk about their latest work, share resources, discuss developments in news, network with other ONA community members year-round – and even make plans around ONA events and opportunities.

We want to hear your thoughts about how you’d like to use the ONA Slack. Please take our short survey by April 5. Your feedback will help us continue to strengthen the ONA Slack community. In the meantime, if you’re not already a member, anyone in the ONA community can sign up for our Slack for free. Join us there!

NLA Awards open for submissions

How metadata and planning can shape your newsroom

Desk-Net is sharing how metadata and planning can help your newsroom better deliver the right stories to your audiences by understanding their interests, needs and preferences.

With an abundance of information available and strong competition through social media and other channels, newsrooms must adapt to stay relevant. Paying attention to metadata such as topics, audiences and user needs is key – understanding what readers are looking for helps newsrooms tailor content to meet audience needs and keep readers engaged.
