For journalists of color (and allies)

Recognize red flags while job searching. Get paid what you deserve. Navigate double standards in the newsroom. The Collective newsletter from Poynter gives you access to advice from journalists of color who have been there. Get The Collective next Wednesday.

Let’s talk about failure

We have all fumbled a big meeting or felt like a project launch didn’t quite hit the mark. For an upcoming issue of this newsletter, we’re interested in hearing stories and tips about how managers navigate and talk about failures. Whether you’re managing a team now or have worked with a manager who addressed failures exceptionally well, we want to hear from you. Reply directly to this email or send a note to karolle@journalists.org with your stories.

FAQ: Who can become an ONA member?

ONA membership is open to anyone contributing to the digital journalism industry, including professionals focused on news production for digital distribution, media workers who aren’t directly involved producing the news and journalism educators in high schools, colleges and universities. Students interested in a journalism career are also invited to join.

Members support ONA initiatives such as free resources from our training events, fellowships and other professional development programs and weighing in on key legal issues affecting digital journalists.
