Meet the ONA Local Speakers Bureau

ONA is expanding our programming for local journalism communities through our new Speakers Bureau. Building on the success of ONA Local meetups, we created the Speakers Bureau to expand training opportunities — workshops that will focus on topics such as data journalism, newsletter strategies and more. Meet the Speakers Bureau.

Funding for your newsroom’s mentorship program

Applications are open for funding to support mentorship programs aimed at improving diversity in newsrooms. This opportunity is open to members of the Journalism Mentorship Collaborative — there’s still time to join! — and will support 15-25 news professionals with up to $5,000 to develop their ideas, in-person training, an expert coach and more. Apply by Feb. 2.

From 360 videos to photogrammetry

Alexey Furman and his team at New Cave Media noticed that many people viewing 360 videos tried to walk with the headsets. The team experimented with photogrammetry — a way to create 3D scenes from still photographs — to let viewers explore physical space. Their Journalism 360 project Aftermath VR gave people a chance to walk in downtown Kiev, Ukraine, to learn about the bloodiest day of the Euromaidan Revolution.
