ONADC: Vox at AU

An ONA Local event, hosted by ONA DC

A conversation with Vox.com editors Melissa Bell and Yuri Victor, sponsored by American University School of Communication

Please join Melissa Bell and Yuri Victor from Vox.com on Thursday, Oct. 23, to discuss the intersection of editorial and technology at their startup, which has quickly become known for its ambitious product launches.
Melissa, a Vox co-founder, editor in chief and senior product manager, and Yuri, senior UX designer, will also talk about the unique culture that has made Vox nimble as it adds more storytelling tools. Unlike many media companies that delegated web publishing to the IT department, Vox has built a platform from the ground up by iterating with bloggers who know how to tell stories and build communities on the web.

Thanks to our friends at the American University School of Communication for providing the lovely meeting space in the renovated McKinley Building that will be fun to see on AU’s campus. The building will be opening for guided tours at 6 p.m. Come early to see the cool digital media space.

Here’s a link to the campus map: http://www.american.edu/aumaps/index.cfm

Attendees are encouraged to take Metro to Tenleytown-AU. A free AU shuttle is available from the station to AU’s main campus at 4400 Massachusetts Ave. NW.

There also is limited parking on campus, in the garage underneath the School of International Service (SIS) building, or the Sports Center garage. Parking is free after 5 p.m.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Mobile service is fine; if you think you will need WIFI access we’ll send an announcement closer to the event about signing up for guest access ahead of time.

See you in October!

— Tiffany, Matt and Jessica
