The Online News Association’s brand new West Virginia group will host its inaugural public gathering at Charleston’s innovative Economic Development Council, located at 1506 Kanawha Blvd. West in Charleston, on Saturday, March 18. Sign-in, with time for a full catered breakfast and networking, begins at 9 a.m. and the event itself begins at 10 with the first of four sessions designed to address various aspects of the digital media transition:
*Kristen Hare of the Poynter Institute will join us by video conference to discuss how local media outlets are making the move to digital.
*Dave Mistich, Digital Editor/Coordinator for WV Public Broadcasting will introduce “Data for Newbies.”
*Eric Meadows, Voices of Appalachia creator and owner, Appalachian Geographic & IT Solutions, will talk about Facebook for Journalists, Instant Articles, and other online innovations.
*Eric Eyre, Staff Writer for the Charleston Gazette-Mail, will discuss his recent pain pill investigative series.
