ONA STL: Instagram Strategy and Storytelling

An ONA Local event, hosted by ONA STL

What We’ll Do
Come join us for ONA St. Louis’ second event of the year. Join us on Thursday, February 22, where we’ll host a panel discussion on how journalists are using Instagram to tell stories, promote their work and engage with their audience.

What You Can Expect
As per usual, free pizza, local St. Louis beer as well as soda and other non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. This month, we will be ordering pizza from Pizza Head (all their pies are vegetarian).

The event will be held on the upper level of TechArtista, a co-working space located at 4818 Washington Boulevard, in the Central West End. Free street parking is available along both Olive Street and Washington Avenue.

Once you arrive, make your way up the spiral staircase to the common area, where you will be greeted by one of the group’s co-organizers.

Schedule
5:30–6 p.m.
We typically give people about 30 minutes to arrive at the venue. Take your time to sign in, grab some food and a drink, and mingle with others.

6–6:15 p.m.
We’ll gather together for a quick icebreaker.

6:15–6:45 p.m.
This month’s event on Instagram will feature three speakers: Cara Anthony (Belleville News-Democrat), Carolina Hidalgo (St. Louis Public Radio), and Catherine Klene (Sauce Magazine).

6:45–7 p.m.
We’ll then take questions from attendees for a brief Q&A with our speakers. You can also submit questions in advance to stlouis@journalists.org.

7–7:15 p.m.
There’ll be a short intermission before our final segment.

7:15–7:30 p.m.
Special segment to be announced.

7:30–8:30 p.m.
Be sure to stick around after the talks to mingle with others.

First-Timer?
For those who have never attended an Online News Association event before, we are the world’s largest association of digital journalists. Our mission is to inspire innovation and excellence among journalists to better serve the public.

You don’t have to be a member to attend one of our meetups. We do ask that you RSVP well in advance, however, to help us better gauge how much food we will need to order.
