What We’ll Do
Join ONA St. Louis on Thursday, Nov. 7, at T-REX in downtown St. Louis as BuzzFeed News journalist Jane Lytvynenko hosts a workshop centered on the disinformation environment and the practical tools journalists can use to track down bad actors and inauthentic activity online.
What You Can Expect
Per usual, we’ll have free food, beer and nonalcoholic beverages. The event will be held at T-Rex downtown at 911 Washington Ave., Ste. 500.
There are several parking lots you can park in, take note they do cost money. In addition, T-REX has a small, free parking lot on the northwest side of the building near The Over/Under Bar and Grill.
Once you are inside the building, take the elevator to the fifth floor and head into the common area.
Please note: This event starts promptly at 6 p.m., so please arrive on time. If you have any issues finding the space or getting inside the building, please call Steph Kukuljan at 314-971-0615 or Veneta Rizvic at 314-269-6629.
Schedule
5:30 to 6 p.m.
We typically give people about a half hour to arrive at the venue. Take your time to sign in, grab some food and drink, and mingle.
6 to 8 p.m.
Jane Lytvynenko is a journalist with BuzzFeed News, where she covers online misinformation and disinformation. She will lead us through a workshop that will provide tools and ideas to utilize as reporters, including those who don’t focus on disinformation.
Questions are encouraged throughout the entire workshop, but we’ll save time for a brief Q&A at the end. You can also submit questions in advance to stlouis@journalists.org.
ONA St. Louis wants to remind attendees we have members from dozens of St. Louis-area media outlets. We ask that people be mindful and constructive when mentioning local examples in conversation. We encourage our attendees to tweet the event.
First-Timer?
For those who have never attended an Online News Association event before, we are part of the world’s largest association of digital journalists. Our mission is to inspire innovation and excellence among journalists to better serve the public.
You do not have to be a member to attend one of our meetups. We do ask that you RSVP well in advance, however, to help us better gauge how much food we will need to order.
