Look, a lot of us got into journalism in the first place to get away from numbers – but numbers shouldn’t be feared! Data journalism skills can help you be a better and more powerful storyteller, and today, data is everywhere.
The NJ Advance Media data team will teach you how to make your life easier with Microsoft Excel, and get you started building interactive charts and maps that utilize tools that require no coding experience. Hooray!
The training will run 6-8pm, but we’ll open the space at 5pm for those of you who want to arrive early, have some snacks and chat. Note that we are ONLY providing light refreshments — snacks and drinks — not dinner. Feel free to grab a sandwich on the way or bring your dinner along! We also know traffic on the Parkway is killer this time of day, so plan accordingly.
There is tons of parking outside NJ Advance Media’s offices in Iselin. After you park, come on in to the building and we’ll have someone in the lobby to direct you.
