ONA Ireland: Preparing for an online information emergency

An ONA Local event, hosted by ONA Ireland

NB: Please complete the form at the end of this description as places are limited and not guaranteed.

ONA Ireland, in association with First Draft News, will host an all-day ‘Crisis simulation’ training event on October 9 in Dublin city center.

We invite you to participate in a state-of-the-art ‘information emergency’ simulation presented by First Draft; which spearheads a global coalition of newsrooms. This immersive and experiential event places journalists at the center of a fast-moving, breaking news story and requires them to make reporting decisions in real-time.

The simulation will help participants to identify core competencies in visual verification and media manipulation tactics, whilst reflecting on the readiness of their newsroom and the industry as a whole to respond to escalating online threats.

In the afternoon, participants will discuss and dissect their learnings from the morning. Participants will also be introduced to recommended tools and techniques for the monitoring, verification and responsible reporting of misinformation, based on the examples used in the simulation.

They will be provided with further details about the CrossCheck network and the ways in which this platform can be effectively utilised in such instances.

Places are limited so please complete the below form as soon as possible, it will only take one minute of your time!
