ONA Detroit: Fireside chat with Anna Clark: Reporting on the Flint water crisis

You’re invited to a fireside chat about covering the Flint water crisis with Anna Clark, author of “The Poisoned City: Flint’s Water and the American Urban Tragedy.” Nancy Kaffer of the Detroit Free Press, who also covered Flint, will take Anna back through the reporting process for “The Poisoned City.” The New York Times Book Review has called Clark “a smart, hard-working reporter who knows she has a great tale to tell.”

About Anna Clark
Anna Clark is a journalist in Detroit. Her writing has appeared in Elle Magazine, the New York Times, Politico, the Columbia Journalism Review, Next City, and other publications. Anna edited “A Detroit Anthology,” a Michigan Notable Book. She has been a Fulbright fellow in Nairobi, Kenya, and a Knight-Wallace journalism fellow at the University of Michigan. “The Poisoned City: Flint’s Water and the American Urban Tragedy” was named an Amazon Best Book in 2018 and winner of the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction.

Nancy Kaffer is an award-winning columnist and member of the editorial board at the Detroit Free Press, where she writes about politics, policy and the complicated relationship between the two, a path that’s taken her from Detroit’s historic municipal bankruptcy to the Flint water crisis and post-Katrina recovery in Mississippi’s Pine Belt. Kaffer has contributed articles and columns to Politico and The Daily Beast, writing about state and national politics, policy and culture.
