ONA DC: Movie night: Just Mercy

An ONA Local event, hosted by ONA DC

Join us for a happy hour and movie night!

We’ll gather in Chinatown at Rocket Bar at 6 pm to catch up, and then head across the street at 7 pm to Regal Gallery Place to watch Just Mercy. The movie, a powerful argument against the death penalty, is based on Bryan Stevenson’s book.

Can’t make it to happy hour? Find us at the Regal Cinema ticket counter at 7 pm, and we’ll head up to the movie together. You’re welcome to purchase your movie tickets in advance, but we anticipate tickets being available night of.

Just Mercy trailer:

After graduating from Harvard, Bryan Stevenson heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or those not afforded proper representation. One of his first cases is that of Walter McMillian, who is sentenced to die in 1987 for the murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite evidence proving his innocence. In the years that follow, Stevenson encounters racism and legal and political maneuverings as he tirelessly fights for McMillian’s life.
