ONA Chicago: A starter kit for interactive graphics

📈 Are you looking to add data visualization to your newsroom (or your personal) toolkit? Do you want a way to customize your viz more than 3rd party services allow? Are you curious about D3 but don’t know where to start?

In this session, Thomas Wilburn (NPR Visuals team) will walk you through setting up the Daily Graphics rig, a setup used by NPR to quickly generate a number of responsive D3 graphics using Google Sheets. We’ll also talk about how NPR’s workflow for copyediting and embedding these graphics in any CMS.

This is a great session for those who are curious about creating graphics for the web. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the command line is helpful, but not required.
