ONA Austin Debut Party

An ONA Local event, hosted by ONA Austin

Considering that Austin has media outlets that lead the nation when it comes to using digital tools, a thriving blogging community, a powerful tech community and several great universities, it was a no-brainer to create the ONA Austin group to bring everyone together to talk about digital storytelling.

So, we’re excited to announce the first event for ONA Austin, which is a newly formed arm of the Online News Association, an international nonprofit membership organization for digital journalists aimed at connecting journalism, technology and innovation.

Want to meet/share ideas and have some fun with some of Austin’s leading digital storytellers? We decided it would be best to get together over beer on Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. at Opal Divine’s South Congress location.

This group was put together by local journalism professors, bloggers, members of the Statesman, Texas Tribune and TV stations and more. We’ll also be teaming up with the Hacks/Hackers ATX group (an organization whose mission is to bring together journalists and programmers – visit meetupaustin.hackshackers.com for more information on their past activities), and we plan to combine meetup ideas and events with them.

Come say hi, hear what we have to say – and share your ideas for what you’d like to see at future ONA Austin events. Everyone is welcome, and attendance at ONA Austin events will always be free.
