AI Innovator Collaborative

Join us for the monthly meeting of the AI Innovator Collaborative, a gathering for ONA members already using AI in journalism to connect and share ideas.

October theme: Vibe Coding News Products and Experiences

This month’s meeting will be about vibe coding, a new way to design and build interactive stories, news-based games, and even full-fledged products without a traditional development team. Learn how tools like Cursor and Replit let you prototype and launch apps that enable users to log in, upload files, and create their own experiences in just a few hours. Even if you have a dev team, you can move beyond sketching concepts on napkins to sending links to fully working prototypes.

Thanks to Collaborative member Dan Pacheco from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications for hosting this month’s meeting.

Meetings happen virtually once a month on the second Tuesday, with the exception of September, when a meetup will happen in person at the ONA25 conference in New Orleans. Participants will have access to a Slack channel to connect between meetings.

If you’ve already signed up for the AI Innovator Collaborative, no need to sign up for each individual event.

This series is open to ONA members, and you’ll need your member number to sign up. Learn how to find your ONA member number or join ONA.

Funding for ONA’s AI in Journalism Initiative is generously provided by Microsoft, the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation and The Joyce Foundation. To learn more about supporting ONA’s AI programming, contact Hanaa Rifaey, Head of Strategic Partnerships, at hanaa@journalists.org.
