Tomorrow: Building resilient podcasts with NHPR

Join your ONA friends online Thursday, May 8, from 1–2 p.m. ET, for part two of our case study series exploring how New Hampshire Public Radio created award-worthy and revenue-generating podcasts. Rebecca Lavoie, NHPR’s Director of On-Demand Audio, will be in conversation with Joni Deutsch, Vice President of Podcasting at The Podglomerate and an alum of ONA’s Women’s Leadership Accelerator, to share practical tactics for audience growth and revenue. This session is for both journalists just entering with audio and podcasting and organizations that are ready to scale — register now.

Calling on U.S. Congress to pass the Journalist Protection Act

Following World Press Freedom Day, U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell and Senator Richard Blumenthal reintroduced the Journalist Protection Act, a bill that seeks to establish federal penalties for those who intentionally harm or intimidate journalists in their newsgathering. As threats to journalists continue to escalate, this effort emphasizes the importance of a free and independent press in upholding a democracy.

ONA joins other journalism organizations—including in the Reporters’ Committee for Freedom of the Press, Radio Television Digital News Association and the National Press Photographers Association—in supporting the legislative effort.
