Honoring innovation in revenue strategy
The 2025 Online Journalism Awards is open for submissions, and this year’s program features a new category for Innovation in Revenue Strategy. This award honors an individual or newsroom using creative strategies to strengthen financial sustainability and journalistic independence. We’re seeking outstanding entries that may include, but aren’t limited to, new subscription or membership programs, events, branded content, merchandise, content licensing or strategic partnerships. Submit entries to the 2025 OJAs by May 15.

Volunteer with the OJAs, discover great journalism
Each year about 200 volunteer as Screeners or Judges for the Online Journalism Awards to help us discover the most noteworthy work in over 20 categories, from technology reporting to social media engagement to AI innovation.
- Screeners are mid-career professionals with a wide array of backgrounds and expertise in digital media and adjacent fields. We’re looking for volunteers to review 25-30 submissions and collectively help select the semi-finalists.
- Judges are senior leaders in journalism with significant experience in one of the award categories and serve on a panel to select the finalists and winners. If you’re new to the OJAs, we recommend serving as a screener for a couple of years to get to know the program before applying to be a judge.
Apply by May 15 to experience a meaningful volunteer opportunity and be part of celebrating journalism excellence around the world.
