                        | ONA, SPJ, press freedom advocates say: Restore AP accessOn Feb. 21, ONA joined the Society of Professional Journalists and over 40 journalism groups in a statement condemning the Trump administration’s attacks on freedom of speech and journalists’ ability to do their jobs—providing independent reporting on the government’s activities. “In a nation founded on freedom of speech, regardless of party or ideology, the government can never compel agreement with its viewpoint as a condition of access to information. The administration must lift the ban on AP.
