ONA Weekly #487: Press Forward Q&A

By on November 15, 2023

Press Forward Q&A

In September, ONA joined six other journalism organizations in an open letter urging funders of the $500 million Press Forward initiative to prioritize equity, inclusion and transparency. The coalition includes ONA, AAJA, IJA, NABJ, NAHJ, Maynard Institute and OpenNews.

The letter earned coverage in Inside Philanthropy, The Chronicle of Philanthropy and other outlets, and has informed internal discussions among Press Forward funders and other journalism support groups. This Thursday, Nov. 17, 12 p.m. EST, Borealis Philanthropy’s Racial Equity in Journalism Fund will host a one-hour Q&A with representatives leading Press Forward to understand how the initiative will support BIPOC news publishers and communities. Register for the event or contribute your questions.

New event: Investigating Luis Rubiales

Relevo Editor-in-Chief Marta Caparrós will share insights from the team’s coverage and investigation of Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) who has been banned by FIFA for three years over his misconduct at the Women’s World Cup in August. This event is open to all — RSVP now.
