Tracie Powell on philanthropy and equity
Listen to a new podcast interview with Tracie Powell, CEO of The Pivot Fund, longtime ONA member and alum of the Women’s Leadership Accelerator. In a wide-ranging conversation on today’s media landscape, Tracie offers sharp, actionable insights on what it really means to be community-centered, the unique challenges faced by journalists of color and the importance of participatory grantmaking. She also shares about her career journey from journalism student to journalism funder.
Since 2021, ONA has invested capacity support to kickstart The Pivot Fund’s mission, as part of a pilot program for a new model of fiscal sponsorship. The program aims to support entrepreneurial ONA members and grow the ecosystem of journalism grant-making, professional development and trade organizations.
