Why run for the ONA board

It’s board nomination season! Take a look at what the Board of Directors does at ONA.

Directors have legal responsibilities such as duty of care (to participate actively in making decisions on behalf of ONA and to exercise the best judgment while doing so), duty of loyalty (put ONA’s interests before their personal and professional interests) and duty of obedience (ensuring that ONA complies with the applicable federal, state, and local laws and adheres to its mission).

Plus:

  • Develop and support a new generation of digital journalists through ONA’s programs
  • Participate in board conference calls and in-person board meetings
  • Chair or serve on ad hoc committees

An ONA member must nominate another ONA member to be considered for a board seat. Submit nominations by July 20.
