ONA Weekly #466: Become An ONA Board Member

By on June 21, 2023

FAQ: Who can become an ONA board member?

The election process for the ONA Board of Directors spans about three months. To be considered a candidate, an ONA member must be nominated by another ONA member and meet five eligibility requirements. The call for nominations to fill seats on the 2024-25 board will open July 5.

The board sets ONA’s strategic direction and follows BoardSource’s 10 essential responsibilities of nonprofit boards to guide its work. Board members have a unique opportunity to grow personally and professionally as they build skills, meaningful connections and influence alongside a team of other forward-thinking and dedicated professionals.

Digital News Report findings [Sponsored]

As attitudes towards news change, so does the pace of digital news. The latest Digital News Report from The Reuters Institute at Oxford University makes it evident that we need to change how news is covered and delivered.

Among the key findings are evidence that younger audiences want more video and audio news delivery, news avoidance is gaining momentum and that more than half of news consumers are concerned about misinformation.
