Meet ONA’s new CEO, LaSharah S. Bunting

We are thrilled to welcome longtime ONA supporter, journalist, transformational leader and equity advocate LaSharah S. Bunting as ONA’s new CEO and Executive Director, effective March 13. 

LaSharah’s support of ONA has ranged from providing financial backing during her tenure as Director of Journalism at the Knight Foundation to advising ONA on numerous programmatic initiatives. As Executive Director and CEO, she will set our strategic and financial priorities as an organization. We’ll share opportunities in the coming months for how members can be involved in this process.

Ted Scripps Fellowships in Environmental Journalism

Take your career to the next level and deepen your understanding of environmental issues by applying for the Scripps Fellowships in Environmental Journalism. The program runs August-May at CU Boulder, providing an $80,000 stipend and more. Apply by March 1.

A look back at 2022

ONA’s 2022 Retrospective tells the story of the work and impact we accomplished this past year and offers a view into how we are focusing our work and approach.

In 2022, we saw more than 5,200 people engage in programs beyond the annual membership, including cohorts, volunteer opportunities and fellowships and events. We also offered innovation training; we worked to advance diversity, equity and inclusion; we presented meaningful networking opportunities and connections; and we expanded career development resources for the digital journalism industry.
