The Online News Association (ONA) will host the next edition of the ONA Insights conference on Oct. 14-15 in Philadelphia. ONA Insights will feature two days of in-person programming to explore how journalism organizations are reimagining their approaches to audience development, product and work culture while planning for 2022. The conference will also bring together the ONA community to celebrate the finalists and winners in the 2021 Online Journalism Awards.
The pandemic has and will continue to fundamentally change the way digital journalists work. We’re designing a community event with emphasis on active participation to help you develop your newsroom’s strategy for next year. We’ll dedicate most of the two days to hands-on workshops, Table Talks and other interactive learning formats. It will be a great fit for participants excited to learn and collaborate in person, and take a break from the lean-back experience of panel conversations.
We’ll do a public call for interactive workshop ideas in July. Additionally, we’ll share more details about other specifics in the next couple of months as the conference takes shape, including information about hotel bookings, registration and participant tracks.

As we plan our first in-person conference since 2019, the safety and wellbeing of the ONA community is our top priority. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and association-specific resources on a regular basis, and be responsive to local public health developments.
