Honoring innovation in journalism education

We are pleased to announce Michigan State University and University of Georgia have been awarded prizes from the Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education in recognition of work to innovate within their journalism programs. Michigan State University received a $50,000 grand prize for their collaboration with the Lansing State Journal to explore the impact of school of choice policies. The University of Georgia earned the $15,000 research prize for impressive work examining how 360-degree video can inform the public about the state’s water infrastructure challenges. Learn more about the winning projects and how the Challenge Fund supports journalism educators to explore innovative news storytelling.

Women’s Leadership Workshop, Jan. 11 in Miami

We’re bringing lessons from our Women’s Leadership Accelerator to Miami! Join ONA South Florida Saturday, Jan. 11, for an all-day workshop specifically for women in small markets and local news. Speakers include Rebekah Monson, co-founder and COO of Whereby.us, Mindy Marques, Publisher and Executive Editor of the Miami Herald, Julie Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of the South Florida Sun Sentinel and more. Registration is free for ONA members, $25 for non-members.
