From the archives

We are sharing resources and stories from the ONA archives throughout 2019, as we celebrate 20 years of inspiring innovation and excellence in digital journalism.

In 2017, ONA recognized audio reporting as a craft deserving of its own award and introduced the Audio Digital Storytelling category to the Online Journalism Awards. The award honors exceptional audio storytelling, ranging from ongoing podcast series to online news that incorporates audio in innovative ways. The inaugural winners included Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting, taking home the large newsroom prize for their interactive coverage of stories at the U.S.-Mexico border. AIR: Finding America and KNBA won the small newsroom prize for their unique approach to climate change reporting in rural Alaska. Explore all the winning audio projects since 2017.
