From the archives: Early-career tips for journalists

We are sharing resources from the ONA archives throughout 2019, as we celebrate 20 years of inspiring innovation and excellence in digital journalism.

Build skills instead of a brand, seek mentors and be persistent in applying for opportunities even after rejections. These are just some of the advice that 2018 MJ Bear Fellows Tania KarasAnand Katakam and Vignesh Ramachandran shared at ONA18. As part of their fellowship, they attended the conference to speak about their work, career journeys and how to get buy-in for innovative project ideas as early-career journalists. Listen to their conversation, which was moderated by ONA Board member Benét Wilson.

The MJ Bear Fellowship honors and supports digital journalists under 30 who are pushing the boundaries of digital news. Learn more and apply.
