From the archives: Andrew Sullivan explains blogging

We are sharing resources from the ONA archives throughout 2019, as we celebrate 20 years of inspiring innovation in journalism.

In 2003, politics and culture writer Andrew Sullivan keynoted our annual conference to discuss on how journalists can reach a global audience through blogging. Unlike traditional op-ed columns, blogs, he said, invite ongoing conversation. Though, he also admitted that there was no clear business model for blogging success. His announcement in 2015 that he was retiring from his blog The Dish initiated many debates about whether blogging is dead and reflections on how his blogging changed the internet
