Voting closes Friday for ONA’s Board

Apply for the Knight Cities Challenge

What’s your best idea to make cities more successful? The second round of Knight Cities Challenge is looking for your ideas. From a pool of $5 million, they will award grants at the city, neighborhood and block level to improve civic life. Apply by Oct. 27.

Become a visiting Nieman Fellow

Applications are now open for the Knight Visiting Nieman Fellowships. Fellows should be focused on advancing journalism and will stay at Harvard for up to 12 weeks to work on a project. Learn more and apply by Oct. 31.

California Health Data Scholarship

In California and interested in public health? Don’t miss the all-expenses-paid California Health Data Fellowship, which will introduce 10 California journalists to new data to improve their reporting through an on-site fellowship. Apply by Oct. 16.

UNITY Regional Summit: ‘Empowering the Southern Narrative’

On Oct. 16, join journalists from around the country for Empowering the Southern Narrative, an event “centered on media literacy, social media, entrepreneurial journalism and discussions on poverty… [with] a town hall meeting on the reporting during the Civil Rights Movement.”
