Liriel Higa is a senior staff editor at The New York Times on Opinion’s audience team. She established the live Twitter video chats for the columnists and contributors. She started at The Times working for Nicholas Kristof and Charles Blow as their fact checker, newsletter and blog editor, and Facebook Live producer.
Prior to The Times, she was the director of social media at Show of Force, which produced the documentary films “Half the Sky” and “A Path Appears,” based on the books by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. She started her journalism career as a columnist for The Daily Princetonian, and after graduating reported on budget and appropriations for Congressional Quarterly.
Her favorite social media pastime is using Snapchat lenses and Instagram effects with her centenarian grandmother and her friends’ toddlers. She is a former gymnast who loves impromptu travel and has cartwheeled on five continents.
