Elizabeth Dunbar is an accomplished journalist seeking to improve local journalism in the Midwest and increase communities’ capacity to collectively tackle problems. As a reporter for MPR News, she has covered one of those problems – climate change – for the past four years in innovative ways. Most recently, Dunbar has used various audience engagement strategies to explore climate change through the lens of agriculture. She has engaged rural farmers and Twin Cities consumers in a closed Facebook discussion, serving their information needs and letting their curiosities drive her coverage. Dunbar is on the advisory board for Your Voice Ohio, a journalism collaborative exploring new ways for media organizations to serve and engage communities. She grew up in Iowa, graduated from the University of Minnesota and spent the first five years of her career reporting and editing for The Associated Press in Minneapolis, Louisville, Ky., and Raleigh, N.C.
