Industry: Audience Engagement, Media, Not For Profit
Last edited October 28, 2022

CatchLight is a nonprofit visual media organization that leverages the power of visuals to inform, connect and transform communities. We partner with news organizations to bring the most engaging form of communication there is – visuals – to the forefront of journalism. Through visual journalism fellowships, editorial support, and community engagement, we support newsrooms’ use of photography, video, illustration, and other visual-driven projects to meet critical information needs and improve representation, especially of underserved or marginalized communities. This year, CatchLight Local is subsidizing six CatchLight Local Fellows in California newsrooms, where they serve their communities as paid, full-time staff visual journalists, adding expertise and capacity to news outlets that recognize the power of visual storytelling.
