Viktorija Mickute is a two time Emmy-nominated journalist, documentary filmmaker and a senior producer at AJ Contrast, Al Jazeera’s media innovation studio. Her immersive project Still Here, exploring incarceration in the US, premiered at the Sundance film festival in 2020. Having grown up in Lithuania, Viktorija started her journalism career right after her undergraduate political science studies becoming the youngest foreign news producer at the Lithuanian National Television. She also launched and hosted a daily live TV segment on social media trends, which was the first of its kind in her country. Viktorija was awarded with the Fulbright scholarship to earn a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri. Her virtual reality documentary films and immersive experiences have been recognized with 15 international awards, including Online Journalism and Amnesty Media Awards, and were screened in dozens of film festivals, such as Hot Springs and Sheffield Doc Fest.
