Alaysja Clark

Alaysja Clark is a senior at Seattle Pacific University studying Communication/journalism with a minor in digital media. She is passionate about film photography, nature, patterns, and learning new things about the world. When she is not working or doing schoolwork she likes to spend her time taking care of plants, journaling, and watching movies. Alaysja’s childhood was spent in Southern California where she a developed a love for the beach and contemporary art. She works with different media including video, photography, and collage. Her work primarily focuses on issues pertaining body image, the environment, and the black experience. She creates work inspired by her life and connects them with unexpected new ideas. Her projects demonstrate powerful research and planing skills. In 2017 Alaysja created a short documentary titled, Black Hair Magic, a film about African American women and their hair. Black Hair Magic has appeared at film festivals across the country.
