I am a senior at Indiana University studying journalism with specializations in news writing, graphic communication and digital journalism. I am also minoring in sociology and am on track to graduate with an honors notation. I have previously interned at CBS News in London, The Oregonian/OregonLive and most recently, Block Club Chicago, a nonprofit newsroom in the city covering local and neighborhood news. While I have previously worked and been trained in breaking news, videography and design through my classes and work at the Indiana Daily Student at IU, I am most interested in audience engagement, social media and newsletter building. As the world of journalism changes, I want to be part of a team working to reach readers where they are with the news they want. My time at Block Club has shown me that readers will pay for stories they care about, but you first need to know what those stories are. Social media and audience engagement have grown increasingly important in the field, and I believe that need will continue to go up as news organizations push to grow subscriptions and reader loyalty.
