Elizabeth is a senior journalism and history student at the University of Georgia. This summer, she studied abroad in Havana, Cuba with a group of journalism and ecology students and explored environmental communications through the Cuban people. After that, she came home to Atlanta and interned with Atlanta Civic Circle through the Atlanta Press Club, working on her multimedia and photo skills by reporting on democracy and housing issues. She has held several positions at The Red & Black, the independent newspaper serving UGA and the Athens community, and will be the fall 2023 Editor in Chief. Through Covering Poverty with Grady’s Cox Institute Journalism Writing Lab, she documented community service journalism pieces for the Atlanta-Journal Constitution and The Oglethorpe Echo. As a photojournalist, she loves to tell stories visually and leans towards stories surrounding identity, culture, family and democracy. When she’s not running around snapping photos or stalking documentary photographers on Instagram, she’s hiking, playing piano or making a charcuterie board with her friends.
