Alicia Gabrielle Puzon is a graduate student at the Mass Communication program at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She works as a communications coordinator at the Health Equity Research and Education (HERE) Center and a campus correspondent for Poynter Institute’s MediaWise. Her research interests include media literacy, misinformation and disinformation, and the weaponization of social media. She is currently working a project regarding the role of populism on the dissemination of misinformation on Filipino digital media. In the past, she has worked on news literacy and voter literacy projects at CSUN, including the California Voter Forum, CSUN’s first voter-based forum.
In her free time, she enjoys writing and drawing. She has always wanted to write a novel one day, and she has slowly been prepping for that. She mostly writes short stories about romance, horror, or science fiction. She used to draw often, and she has personally enjoyed creating character designs for her short stories or fan art for her favorite TV shows and video games.
