D. Victoria Baranetsky is a free speech attorney and the in house counsel at the Center for Investigative Reporting. Previously, she was the first staff member of the Reporters Committee on the West Coast and worked as an attorney at the Wikimedia Foundation on First Amendment issues. Prior to that, Baranetsky was the First Amendment Fellow at the New York Times and clerked for the Honorable Rosemary Pooler of the Second Circuit after graduating from Harvard Law School. Baranetsky is a graduate of Columbia College and Columbia School of Journalism. She also received the Sheldon Kennedy Harvard Fellowship to complete her masters in Political Theory at Oxford University. She is currently a member of SPJ-NorCal and an affiliate at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center.
