Jay Hamilton is the Hearst Professor of Communication and Director of the Journalism Program at Stanford. His recent book “Democracy’s Detectives: The Economics of Investigative Journalism” focuses on the market for accountability reporting. Current research interests include the information lives of low-income individuals, how people use information to search for work, and how computational journalism can help improve the discovery of stories about public affairs.
