Gordon Edall is currently the Managing Director of Globe Labs at The Globe and Mail as well as the Corporate Security Officer for Canada’s national newspaper. He’s also the Vice President of Sophi.io, an award winning Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning platform for prediction, optimization and advanced analytics serving publishers around the world. In his innovation role, he heads up a program with a joint mandate to accelerate innovation by enabling entrepreneurial employees to do what they think needs done while also tapping into the start-up ecosystem to find up and coming companies to partner with. In building out the incubation program now called Lab351, an identity for the Lab has emerged centred around the intersection of User Experience and Machine Learning. The Lab was also the launching pad for Sophi.io. Prior to his work developing Lab351, Gordon worked in the data science group at The Globe And Mail and managed the build out of an advanced analytic stack including the paywall, predictive modelling and automation systems the company relies on today and that proved the foundation for Sophi. Earlier in his career, he used to write a column in the investing section called Number Cruncher.
