Daniela Gerson is an assistant professor of journalism at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in community, ethnic and participatory media and senior fellow at the Center for Community and Ethnic Media (CCEM) at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at City University of New York (CUNY). (Yes, her titles include a startling number of C acronyms).

She is also is a co-founder and the editor of the immigration newsletter Migratory Notes. Previously she was a senior fellow at the Democracy Fund; a community engagement editor at the LA Times; director of USC's Annenberg Civic Engagement and Journalism Initiative; editor of a trilingual hyperlocal publication, Alhambra Source; and a staff immigration reporter for The New York Sun. She has contributed to outlets including WNYC: New York Public Radio, PRI's The World, Der Spiegel, Financial Times, CNN, and The New York Times.
