Olivia Cohen is a Chicago-based journalist and a rising senior at Columbia College Chicago. She is currently an intern at Bloomberg Law in Washington, D.C., reporting on the federal courts, legal issues and business.
Hailing from Minneapolis, Cohen serves as the editor-in-chief of the Columbia Chronicle, her college’s student-run newspaper, where she reports on her college’s administration and finances.
Outside of Bloomberg Law and student media, Cohen has published work in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel chronicling COVID-19 health code violations, the Chicago Sun-Times reporting on Afghan refugees in the Chicagoland area and in Gateway Journalism Review, writing about finical issues smaller newsrooms face.
Prior to joining the Online News Association student newsroom, Cohen worked with the SPJ News, covering the Society of Professional Journalist’s conference in October 2022, in Washington, D.C.
Cohen was awarded first place by the Illinois College Press Association for her reporting on her college’s pro-choice curriculums since the 1970s, after the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She also received student recognition awards.
